Quiz Details
This rigorous module strips away the straightforward "find the rate" problems and replaces them with intricate, multi-step word problems. It represents the highest difficulty of non-compounding interest questions typically found in competitive exams.
Target: Tests the ability to handle multiple variables, shifting timelines, and algebraic setups without relying on compound interest formulas. Candidates should aim to complete these 50 questions in 60–70 minutes.
Core Syllabus & Question Types:
Varying Rates of Interest: Calculating total interest when the rate changes over different periods (e.g., R1% for the first 2 years, R2% for the next 3 years). Core logic: Total SI = P * [ (R1T1) + (R2T2) + ... ] / 100.
Partial Investments: Problems where a total sum is split into two or three parts, invested at different rates, often with the condition that the interest earned from each part is equal, or the final amounts are equal.
Annual Installments (Debt Discharge): One of the most challenging topics in Simple Interest. Calculating the equal annual payment required to clear a total debt over a given time. Formula logic: Debt = (Number of installments * Installment Amount) + Total Interest on those installments.
Difference & Ratios: Finding the principal when only the difference in interest from two different sources or two different time periods is provided.
