Quiz Details
This module is an essential component of the "Reasoning Ability" section for most undergraduate entrance and government exams. It tests the ability to visualize a mental map based on a series of written instructions.
Syllabus & Core Question Types:
Cardinal Directions: Questions based on the four main directions (North, South, East, West) and the four intermediate directions (North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West).
Simple Left/Right Turns: Tracking movement where every turn is a standard 90-degree angle. The core challenge is maintaining the correct orientation (e.g., knowing that a "left turn" while facing South means moving toward the East).
Distance Calculation: Simple linear addition and subtraction of distances covered in opposite or parallel directions to find the net displacement.
Final Direction: Determining which direction the person is currently facing or in which direction they are situated relative to the starting point.
Exam Pattern & Strategy:
Total Questions: 50.
Ideal Time: 35–40 minutes.
Strategy: Always start by drawing a small "+" sign to represent the cardinal axes. Use a "Point A to Point B" sketching method for every question to avoid mental fatigue and silly mistakes.
