Cubes and Dice Lesson 1
Q1–10 of 53Count the number of blocks in the given figure.

In bottom layer, there are 7 blocs. In layer 2, there are 4 blocks. In layer 3, only 2 block
Total number of blocks = 13
Count the number of cubes in the given figure.
Clearly, there are 1 column containing 3 cubes, 2 columns containing 2 cubes each and 3 columns containing 1 cube each.
Hence, there are (1 × 3) + (2 × 2) + (3 × 1) = 3 + 4 + 3 = 10 cubes in the given figure.
Count the number of cubes in the given figure.

Clearly, there are 4 columns containing 1 cube each, 4 columns containing 2 cubes each and 1 column containing 3 cubes.
Hence, there are (4 × 1) + (4 × 2) + (1 × 3) = 4 + 8 + 3 = 15 cubes in the given figure.
Direction: Count the number of cubes in each of the following figures:

In the figure there are 34 columns containing 2 cubes each.
∴ Total number of cubes = (34 × 2) = 68.
Direction: Count the number of cubes in each of the following figures:

In the figure, there are 9 columns containing 5 cubes each, 7 columns containing 4 cubes each, 5 columns containing 3 cubes each and 1 column containing 1 cube.
∴ Total number of cubes = (9 × 5) + (7 × 4) + (5 × 3) + (1 × 1) = 89.
Direction: Count the number of cubes in each of the following figures:

In the figure, there are 1 column containing 3 cubes, 7 columns containing 2 cubes each and 13 columns containing 1 cube each.
∴ Total number of cubes = (1 × 3) + (7 × 2) + (13 × 1) = 3 + 14 + 13 = 30.
Direction: Count the number of cubes in each of the following figures:

In the figure, there are 21 columns containing 2 cubes each and 4 columns containing 1 cube each.
∴ Total number of cubes = (21 × 2) + (4 × 1) = 42 + 4 = 46.
Direction: Count the number of cubes in each of the following figures:

In the figure, there are 4 columns containing 5 cubes each and 38 columns containing 1 cube each.
∴ Total number of cubes = (4 × 5) + (38 × 1) = 20 + 38 = 58.
Count the number of blocks in the given figure.

There are 4 blocks in the lower layer close to the ground. Also, there are 3 blocks standing over the lower layer of blocks.
Thus, there are 4 + 3 = 7 blocks in the given figure.
Direction: Count the number of cubes in each of the following figures:

In the figure, there are 4 columns containing 3 cubes each, 12 columns containing 2 cubes each and 4 columns containing 1 cube each.
∴ Total number of cubes = (4 × 3) + (12 × 2) + (4 × 1) = 12 + 24 + 4 = 40.
