Exam Details
Since 2011, The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has been conducting the IBPS PO Exam to select Probationary Officers for 11 participating public sector banks in India. The selection process consists of Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview.
For the 2026-27 recruitment cycle, IBPS released the official notification for CRP PO/MT-XVIT on 30th June, 2026. The IBPS PO 2026 notification includes details regarding vacancies, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, salary, application process, and important dates for the recruitment cycle.
Once selected, IBPS Probationary Officers undergo comprehensive training to develop the skills required to handle banking operations and responsibilities effectively.

Eligibility
- An Indian citizen
- Subject of Nepal and Bhutan
- A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before Jan, 1962
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma (Myanmar), Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and who intends to permanently settle in India, subject to eligibility conditions prescribed by the Government of India.
IBPS PO 2026 Age Limit (as on 1st July 2026):
If you belong to the General category, your age must be between 20 and 30 years as on 1st July 2026.

IBPS PO 2026 Educational Qualification:
Graduation Degree: You must hold a graduation degree (BA, BCOM, BSC, BBA, BCA, BTech, MBBS etc) in any discipline from a university recognized by the government of India.
You must possess a valid graduation degree on or before the eligibility date specified in the official notification. The result of the qualifying examination should have been declared on or before the prescribed date.
Computer Proficiency: You must have the basic computer proficiency as the IBPS PO 2026 is a CBT (Computer Based Test) and is conducted in online mode.
Exam Pattern
IBPS conducts its Bank PO exam in 3 rounds – Prelims, Mains and Interview. The Preliminary Examination is qualifying in nature and its marks are not considered for final merit. The final selection is based on the combined performance in the Mains Examination (80%) and Interview Round (20%)

IBPS PO 2026 Prelims Marking Scheme:
- For every right answer, you will get 1 mark.
- For every wrong answer, you will attract a penalty of negative 0.25 marks.
- You will not attract any negative marks for un-attempted questions.

Selection Process
- The IBPS PO 2026 prelims exam is a qualifying in nature.
- If you pass prelims exam, you are qualified to take the mains test.
- The marks obtained in this paper are not taken into account in the final merit list.
- Candidates must meet both the sectional and total cutoff marks to pass the exam.
